Four Additional National Medical Centers of Excellence Acquire Tensys® T-Line®
New England Baptist Hospital, Emory University
Hospital, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Mount Carmel
Health Systems Purchase T-Line® Systems to Facilitate Best Possible Patient Care
San Diego, CA | September 30, 2003 - Tensys® Medical, the leader in real-time blood pressure management,
today announced that an additional four national medical centers of excellence
have purchased multiple Tensys® T-Line® systems. The additional centers include
New England Baptist Hospital, located in Boston; Emory University Hospital, in
Atlanta; University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, in Houston; and Mount
Carmel Health Systems consisting of Mount Carmel St. Ann's, Mount Carmel East
and Mount Carmel West, all in the greater Columbus, Ohio area.
The
Tensys® T-Line® is an FDA-cleared medical device providing anesthesiologists
better, more effective control over patient safety during surgery by allowing
them to quickly monitor and manage blood pressure variations.
"The
clinical benefits of the Tensys® T-Line's real-time waveform are significant,"
said Dr. Robert Bode, Chairman of Anesthesia at New England Baptist Medical
Center. "In our patient population, the ability to non-invasively, yet
continuously monitor our patients' blood pressure during surgery is particularly
advantageous. We chose the T-Line® based on its ability to provide beat-to-beat
information during the periods when we need it most," continued Dr. Bode. The
New England Baptist Hospital is currently ranked 26th among orthopedic hospitals
in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.
"It is flattering to
see numerous major medical centers of excellence both purchasing and clinically
adopting the Tensys® T-Line®," said Michael J. Martin, chief executive officer,
Tensys® Medical. "Their growing use and satisfaction with our product speaks
volumes for the T-Line® and the high level of patient care that it provides,"
continued Martin.
There are currently two primary methods used by anesthesiologists
to monitor blood pressure during surgery. The T-Line®, via its continuous,
real-time data, is far more effective than the traditional cuff method and has
clinically equivalent accuracy to that of the arterial line (A-line). The Tensys®
device uses a transdermal pressure sensor to continuously yet non-invasively
measure blood pressure at the radial artery.
Tensys® Medical will be demonstrating the Tensys® T-Line® at booth #808 at the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting in San Francisco
from October 11-15, 2003. For more information on the meeting, please visit www.asahq.org.
About Tensys® Medical
Tensys® Medical, Inc. is the leader in real-time
blood pressure management. The Tensys® T-Line®, the company's lead product, was
cleared by the FDA in November 2002 as a medical device providing
anesthesiologists with a non-invasive, continuous real-time blood pressure
management tool.
The Tensys® T-Line® measures a patient's blood pressure
at the radial artery. It offers anesthesiologists better, more effective control
over patient safety during surgery by allowing them to quickly monitor and
manage blood pressure variations. The T-Line®, via its continuous, real-time
data, is far more effective than the traditional cuff method and has clinically
equivalent accuracy to that of the arterial line (A-line). The device is based
on Tensymetry, the company's proprietary and patented technology, for
non-invasively extracting the continuous, beat-to-beat pressure waveform from
the radial artery without the use of any external calibration device. The
science of Tensymetry is broadly protected and is the result of over six years
of research and development. Prior to its official product launch in March 2003,
the Tensys® T-Line® was tested in approximately 500 surgical cases
nationwide.
Tensys® Medical is based in San Diego, California and was
founded in November 1995. For more information, please visit the company's
