Tensys® Medical Reports Significant Q1 Momentum
Non-Invasive, Continuous, Real-Time Blood Pressure Monitor Enjoying
Rapid Clinical Adoption in Perioperative Markets.
San Diego, CA | June 1, 2004 -- Marking its first full
year of commercial operations, Tensys® Medical,
the leader in real-time, non-invasive blood pressure management,
today announced it will shortly reach and pass the 100 customer
milestone. Recent notable additions to the list of T-Line® users
include: Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Terrebone General Hospital in
Houma, Louisiana, UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, Bayfront
Hospital in St. Petersburg and Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
The Tensys® T-Line® is an FDA cleared medical device
providing anesthesiologists better, more effective control over
patient safety during surgery by allowing them to quickly monitor
and manage blood pressure variations.
"In direct contralateral comparison to an invasive A-Line we have
found the T-Line® to be almost an exact match," commented Dr. Kelvin
M. Yee, Department of Anesthesiology, Clinical Director Operating
Rooms, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. "Additionally, we have noted a
number of bariatric patients in which the standard NIBP cuff was
providing confusing and sometimes misleading information. I have
come to trust the T-Line® over the cuff in the clinical management of
my patients," continued Dr. Yee.
Dr. Rusty Tortorice, Chairman, Department of Anesthesia at Bayfront
Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida added, "We have had nothing but
a positive experience with Tensys® and the T-Line®; the device itself
is highly accurate, the clinical support staff is outstanding and
the follow-up has been timely and complete."
"We are most encouraged with the T-Line®'s accelerating rate of
clinical adoption," commented Michael J. Martin, C.E.O. of Tensys®
Medical. "The T-Line® system is enjoying strong market adoption with
bariatric, orthopedic and general surgery patients. Our customers
are validating both the accuracy and clinical utility of the T-Line®
via both their initial purchase and continuing, routine use of the
system," continued Mr. Martin.
About Tensys® Medical
Tensys® Medical, Inc. is the leader in real-time
blood pressure management. The Tensys® T-Line®, the company's lead
product, was cleared by the FDA in November 2002 as a medical device
providing anesthesiologists with a non-invasive, continuous
real-time blood pressure management tool.
The Tensys® T-Line® measures a patient's blood
pressure at the radial artery. It offers anesthesiologists better,
more effective control over patient safety during surgery by
allowing them to quickly monitor and manage blood pressure
variations. The T-Line®, via its continuous, real-time data, is far
more effective than the traditional cuff method and has clinically
equivalent accuracy to that of the arterial line (A-line). The
device is based on Tensymetry®, the company's proprietary and
patented technology for non-invasively extracting the continuous,
beat-to-beat pressure waveform from the radial artery without the
use of any external calibration device. The science of Tensymetry® is
broadly protected and is the result of over six years of research
and development. Prior to its official product launch in March 2003,
the Tensys® T-Line® was tested in approximately 500 surgical cases
nationwide.
Tensys® Medical is based in San Diego, California and was
founded in November 1995. For more information, please visit the company's
